If your speaking of the original Paperwhite model, some of those are getting old enough now to start showing memory hardware problems.

In general, it is still "too early", but a few such reports have shown up in the technical sub-forum here.

More likely something about how you are trying to use the Kindle -
Book not a type recognized by a Kindle -
Book not transferred to the /documents directory -
As HT points out, even an incorrect date/time setting between the Kindle and the PC -
Something wrong about the details at your end is most likely.
