should still work if you're still able to use it with your content source. Most people have dropped 1.7.2 in favor of 2.0.1 as 1.7.2 no longer works for downloading with some of the sources for Adobe encrypted content (OverDrive, Google, others...). They've stuck with 2.0.1 as starting with 3.x ADE supports newer hardened DRM if a vendor chooses to use it.
