Which had a too many ideas in it (I prefer one impossible thing per story!). And some rather dull philosophising.

But a good read nevertheless.

Interesting to see that the Long Earth idea of the recent Terry Prachett/Stephen Baxter series was already considered in this book many decades earlier.

Next up: A Plague on Both Your Houses by Susanna Gregory. An anachronistic title, seeing as the story is set in 1348 and that line wasn't written until 1594.

But otherwise it's shaping up into a nice mystery set just before the Black Death killed almost half the population in England.
