No, those are just specs of dust in the second picture because I didn't clean the screen before taking it. The dot in the first can still be seen in the second photo. It doesn't wipe off.

To the left of the guy it's shown in this video. It almost disappears when the Kindle is viewed exactly straight on and that's displayed near the end of the video:
