Why do Kobo have so many firmware updates? Is the concept of a stable firmware alien to them?

It seems that every update leads to new bugs and almost always to a factory reset. Pocket support is a joke.

I'd like to be able to sync without going through the rigaramole of update, finding some bizarre error and factory resetting every few months. I have a couple of thousand Pocket articles and it takes hours and hours to download after every botched firmware update.

Why is this tolerated? They obviously couldn't be bothered to test these firmware updates.
