But I can tell you the slow downs and errors you describe are, in general, exactly what happens when a site starts throttling you for hitting their servers too many times too fast.
Try putting this in personal.ini:

Or even more. The default value for ffnet is 4.
And then expect it to take a long time to download things with many chapters and/or images. The story you include a log for appears to have some +400 images. That's another network hit for each one. It stacks up.
