Paperwhite battery drains in a day

Hi all,

New here.

I have a Paperwhite 2 (wifi + 3G - SN B0D5) that I've now had and loved for a few years. Recently, I found that the battery goes from full to 0 in less than a day. Charged overnight, it's gone to empty by bedtime without having read a single page.

I've already forced a restart (although it basically does that when the battery goes to empty), I've done a factory reset and I've even installed a new battery. That battery was installed yesterday, charged and the kindle showed empty this morning.

I have read that battery drain might be cause by some indexing error, however, that should have been taken care of with the factory reset, which pretty much wiped everything (no non-cloud books, only needed to re-download, nbd).

I am usually connected to the home wifi and have always been and have had weeks of power before recently.

Short of trying another new battery and buying a new device, I'm hoping for other ideas. Is there an error log that can be assessed? I've connected the device to my linux mint computer but can't find any log files (I also have a Windows 10 machine if there is software for that.)

Thanks, Kat
