Overdrive loans are ePub unless you have a ka1 and its overdrive / kobo integration in which case they too are kepub.
Books purchased from Kobo and downloaded via either wifi or Kobo desktop are kepub.
When you look in the My book view on the Kobo it will say ePub or Kobo ePub at the far right side.
