The 5.8.0 initial came from a "Day 0" release of the KT3 (mine).
Evidently they started producing the device (and testing in production) prior to building 5.8.1.1
But customer 5.8.1.1 was the first firmware version it shipped with.

I was very much surprised when I bought this KT3 black in December(!) 2016 in a Media Markt shop in Berlin, and found it still running 5.8.0 out of the box. No idea from which old store from what a far far away country these Kindles came.
They just were a bargain "end of the year" offer: 50,- instead of 70,- Euros; and the small print text on the box was in "exotic" languages, interestingly NOT including German, nor French.
(AFAIRC: Besides English: Russian, Spanish, Czech, Croatian, Latuvian, Chinese, etc...)
The KT3 a friend of mine got back in mid 2016 already shipped indeed with 5.8.2 or so ...
