Even though my motto is "Newer isn't always better!", there are good reasons
not to use deliberately very outdated firmware versions for Kindles. Newer ones have some new features which surely
do make sense - despite of lots of bugfixes...
A good tradeoff in my opinion is to use fw 5.8.7.0.1: This is the last one that gives you the chance to downgrade to the initial factory fw, but OTOH it already contains the new Amber font, and it is relatively bug-free.
