It is fine as a replacement for a paper notepad. You can add as many pages as you like by pressing a button on the bottom of the page. For writing it has a maximum of 20 horizontal lines (just in case you don't like a blank page to write on), which I find insufficient. The space between the lines is too wide. That's because Onyx might have had in mind the Chinese users, who need these generous spaces for their symbols' writing. Booxtor assured me there will be integrated a lines generator which you can set by yourself in a future update. The math grid is however optimal.

The writing experience itself is good, though you have to adjust to the new medium. After a while of using the e-reader to take notes, you will notice having difficulties readjusting to paper writing. But the readjustment is quick. I still prefer hand writing. Unfortunately this is a dying art.
