WhisperSync deals on borrowed books (again)
This may be interesting to some. My initial post on this topic was prompted by trying to avail myself of WhisperSync deals for two library book I borrowed. In that instance, Amazon/Audible support were kind enough to credit my account with funds to honor the deal. Since then, Amazon has clarified the way prices are shown, making fairly obvious that library books no longer qualify for WhisperSync deals. Alas, I couldn't help but wonder what would happen if I went through support again. I'm a long time Amazon Prime member and I don't make a habit of this sort of thing, so I wasn't especially surprised that they let me purchase the full whispersync deal, then refunded the ebook portion.
For anyone considering this course I have two caveats. One representative cautioned me that if I ever "accidentally delete" the audiobook I'll only be able to recover it by purchasing the ebook. I am skeptical of this, but for me, the larger deterrent is that to get the deal I spent 64 minutes chatting with a total of six Amazon representatives.
