I'm about two-thirds done and agree with Terisa that it feels closer to her works as JAK albeit with some period detail. I am enjoying the h/h, but there's a lot of secondary characters to keep track of. But if you like her previous mystery-lite books as either AQ or JAK I'd recommend it. Maybe try getting it from the library if you're unsure of the time setting. I haven't read a lot of books set in the 1930s but it could just as easily be a 40s or even 50s book. It's the studio system/Hollywood vibe that you will either like or not. It reads like a typical book of hers in all the good (and bad) ways. It took me a few chapters to get sucked in, but overall I'm liking it so far. Hopefully I'll be able to finish it tonight.
It does seem weird to call it an historical though. But I guess anything from WWII and before is considered historical nowadays.
