Question I bought an Aura One but for me it's a desaster!

Hi everyone here,

I purchased this reader for my wife (Mother's Day present) and because we're elderly people I selected the one with the biggest and most detailed screen. Earlier we received from friends all kinds of books in MOBI format via email so I assumed it would be easy to just put them in so my wife (of American origine) could start reading right away.

Well, nothing is less true. Inundations of stuff that all want you to buy books from them and instructions from the online manual did absolutely nothing. They pretended that when connecting the Reader to my PC it would autmatically show an explorer type screen to which you could copy and paste your books. Instead Explorer showed three directories and a lot of subdirectories, one of which named Kepub which sounded like the most likely candidate but no files that I transferred into that directory showed (I did include an epub file just in case MOBI was the problem) on the Reader.

Searching further I found https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hd5LikhTlAQ in which I was told how to install Adobe and register Adobe Digital Editions, with which I could then transfer my books.

However even though I transferred at least around 20 of these books, only one appears to be in my reader's library. And even that one cannot be read, I got some kind of statement that my adobe account didn't authorize me to read that book. Why none of the other books got even listed? Who knows... We live in Europe, perhaps these American books cannot be read outside of the USA? I have no idea, my wife, a retired teacher of English, and her friends and family in the US are of course all rather literary-minded.

I am totally a-technical and spent all day just trying to get this thing to work but short of an overwhelming amount of offers to buy books nothing seems to work. Now I fould on Youtube a film about this "calibre" software, I already downloaded the 64 bits software for my Windows 8.1 PC but I'm rather scared to go on and make things even worse.

I hope that I'm writing this in the right place, but is there anyone who can please help me with this whole matter? Is Calibre a software that one installes instead of the Kobo software or is it an app-like thing? Will there be a problem because I aready registered the Kobe Reader and also registered at Kobo software and at Adobe Digital Editions? In brief, our intention was to use it for epub and mobi files that friends have mailed us but I have not the slightest idea how. Is there either an "instruction for dummies" of someone who is kind and patient enough to tell me what to do? Or is the Reader unsuitable and should I return it to the store where I bought it?

By forehand many, many thanks! (and please forgive me if I posted this in the wrong thread, I assumed that the Kobo thread would be the right one).

PS: I see that Adobe Digital Editions created a new directory onto my my Aura One named Digital Editions in which all the transferred books are listed. Remarkable is that they all now have EPUB formats even though I entered almost all as being MOBI files. But the BIG QUESTION is why I can't see then in any kind of index of my Reader.
