Charles River Editors Ebooks Now Adding Whispersync Narrations at a Fast Clip.

After reading the first couple of paragraphs, you may think that I've messed up (again) and posted this on the wrong thread, that it should have gone in the Non-Fiction Ebooks thread. But, just bear with me.

I noticed that we hadn't been getting Charles River Editors ebook freebies lately. In fact, the last ones were around April 28. I didn't think much about it, however.

However, there apparently have been some pretty big changes going at CRE. In addition to possibly curtailing their ebook freebies from now on, it appears that they have been going gangbusters producing Whispersync narrations for their ebooks!

I spot-checked the 1413 CRE titles that Amazon's "Manage Your Content" says that I own. About one third of all them have WS titles to accompany them. I could be wrong, but I don't remember any of the CRE titles that we were offered free over the years having WS narrations.

All of the WS narrations, to the ebooks which have them, are $1.99. What this means is that if you got a CRE ebook free, you will have paid a total of only $1.99 ($0 + $1.99) to make the ebook a WS deal!

Now, before you get too excited, remember that CRE ebooks tend to be very short (say 50-75 pages long). So what does that mean? It means that the narration won't be very long. You won't be getting much "bang for the buck." But, a short narration may be all that you're interested in; in that case, if you got the CRE ebook for nothing, you will have gotten the WS deal for $1.99. A steal.

I do not know of any way to sort out the CRE titles which have WS deals. You may have to just go to the product page of the ones that you are interested in, and see if it has a WS narration or not.

I've got a hunch that CRE is going to continue to create WS narrations for its ebooks.
