I have no idea how good Kobo support will be for this. But, if you don't complain to them there is no way it will be fixed. You might need to raise the issue with them and then make a fuss on their Facebook or Twitter pages to get the profile.
Something else to try is find a book in the Kobo store and save the preview, or add a free book. If these don't sync to your device, then it's a bigger problem. If they do sync, then it gives more info for support.
