Books can "disappear" from CC's book list/grid if they are excluded by a search or by a category selection in the grouping drawer. Open the grouping drawer, make sure that no search is active ("clear" the search if necessary by tapping on it and choosing "clear"), and then make sure that no category is selected in the grouping list (tap on "Groups" if necessary).
If you are looking for the book file on the SD card then CC can tell you where it is -- the path. In CC go to Book Details for the book and scroll down looking for "Path:". You will see the full path to the book file on your device.
Finally, CC's "Books with missing files" (found in the menu when not connected) will tell you if CC cannot find a book file on the device that CC thinks should be there.
