Yes. A lot of people didn't care for the plug, also; you can't please everyone.
Cost-cutting is an unnecessarily disparaging term, IMO. It conjures up images of greedy capitalists rubbing their hands together in glee, as they put one more thing over on the consumer. The reality is more along the lines of given the maximum price that can be charged for a device, how to keep production costs in line to make it viable. Amazon supposedly sells devices at cost and they set the prices. Kobo doesn't have a lot of wiggle room.
