You have a newer (>=3) Kindle: AZW3 is a better format (basically EPUB2 in a wrapper) .
That is what I use. I do Dropcaps, borders and some other fun stuff.
The only reason for Mobi is you want to send to your device via Amazon. Side loading allows AZW3
