Demon in the Mirror by the late Andrew J. Offutt (ISFDB, Wikipedia, SFE) & the late Richard Lyon (ISFDB) is the 1st novel in their War of the Wizards trilogy of swashbuckling adventure fantasy starring a young woman who goes adventuring on various quests to find items and defeat evil, as you do, this installment kicking off her lifetime of adventures as she quests in search of her missing brother, going up against an ancient evil who may prove the risky key to finding him, and the assorted forces who stand in her way, free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Endeavour Press' Venture imprint.

This was originally published in 1978 by Pocket Books and later reprinted as part as their Timescape line with an additional The prefixing the title. I'm just going to note that this story apparently contains vampire nuns, which gained it automatic bonus “so cracktastic it's awesome!” points even before the werehawks were mentioned.
