Good point about the hardware - I missed the specs and assumed the processor will be a step up from the current gen. If not, it's a missed opportunity. Despite the marketing "you can run millions of apps from the Play Store", the range of apps that you would actually want to use on e-ink is pretty limited. If none of those work properly for handwiting, that's a problem considering handwriting is a big part of the use case for such a device.
The old OS version is an issue as well, but I think less serious as 4.4 is on the way, and you can install older versions of apps from sites like ApkMirror - although this is not for the average user.
