The thing is, from my outsider point of view, it does seem that that it wouldn't take much for Barnes and Noble to turn Nook around. Dedication and hiring better people to run it. Maybe look back to Nook's short golden age. I remember in the Nook ST/Nook ST with Glowlight phase they touted their use of ePub, expandable storage and their use of 'social DRM'.
Indeed, the way they switched DRM schemes without warning was one of of their biggest black eyes and is what pushed me to stop buying books from them.
