I've lamented the fact that it seemed that no person or organization has tried to discover works in the Internet Archive that are that are still in the public domain but that the copyright holder, for any number of reasons, is allowing people freely to download.

That's not exactly right. At least one organization, Open Culture, tries to do that very thing.

Today, Open Culture mentioned in an email newsetter that 200+ modern art books from the Guggenheim Museum are available to be downloaded free. See http://www.openculture.com/2017/04/d...useum.htmlhere[/QUOTE].

I've posted, in the past, some works from various museums, but I'm all but positive that I never made any post concerning these. That is because these are books of modern art, which I loathe, and I think that I would surely remember posting any of them.
