On a PW2 you can do it in either order because it is not a KT3 or KOA.
I just made a mistake in answering the wrong part of your question about step 8.

About MrPI, which you did ask about:

When you do as directed, the un-archive tool will create two directories at the top level of visible USB storage, /extensions and /mrpackages
That is all you have to do for MrPI

Those, and their contents, are all there is to MrPI.
