The Sony's are in Target, Wal Mart, and Sam's Club..seems like some marketing to me

Sony didn't market the device enough (the Kindle is on Oprah, Newsweek, and on the Amazon homepage), the Connect software is atrocious (the Kindle doesn't need any), and the bookstore is big and cheap(ish).

I'd say the 505 and Kindle, as electronic devices, are dead even, but Amazon and the Kindle are what's stirring the pot and deserve the attention.
