The NFL is only as "political" as you allow it to be. I watch every game my favorite team plays and I've never had to deal with any unwanted political/social commentary. Perhaps that's because I choose to only watch football games, rather than football news, or sports opinion shows.

Watch only the games instead of NFL Countdown, ESPN Gameday, or Joe (I'm-An-Expert-On-All-Things-Sports) Blow's Sports O' Rama and Fantasy Football Guide Show, and you won't get (hardly) any political/social commentary.

The downside of 24-hour sports TV/radio is that time needs to be filled. The good news is that fans aren't obligated to watch (or listen to) the non-sports sports driveling/sniveling.

I think Thursday Night Football is an abomination to begin with, so I don't really care who gets the TV/streaming contract.
