Many people who are new to ebooks have *downloaded* many; the key question is whether they have *read* many ebooks. People who only know about paid ebook sites may have only downloaded a small number, but those who visit free sites may download many ebooks.

And that can be a hard question too; at Fictionwise, they sell many "ebooks" that are single short stories, rather than novels. I suspect that a more practical question would be:

How many ebooks have you acquired for your ebook reader?
• A number you can count.
• More than you bother to keep aware of.

But that doesn't fit as nicely into survey methods.
