Although HDMI cable is bidirectional the circuit has to be specialized to serve source or destination. The I.MX7 has only display out circuit built in http://cache.freescale.com/files/32b.../IMX7SRSFS.pdf

Nothing stops it from running software display solution via USB like Dasung does. The cpu has usb OTG.
