No, Amazon did not sue. You can't collect from a foreign country. They did take away some reviewers privileges that were proved to have been bought.
Oh and if the author/publisher gives review copies, the reviewer is supposed to say they got a review copy in the review.
Bought reviews are only to go under editorial reviews.
It was another company that got sued.
A dry cleaner sued a review site because they got a bad review.
So some crappy authors tried to get up a petition to make Amazon take down all bad reviews
They wanted only perfect verified reviews..
If one mentioned anything about bad grammar or spelling they wanted it taken down because the reviewer was just out to hurt them.
Now yes, that was a rumor about Amazon suing was started by some sellers that got in their opinion bad reviews that hurt their sales. Same authors didn't like the 7 day returns because someone returned their books.
Most of these authors were selling maybe 1 a day. Usually 1 a week.
