My bad. I should have said ratings, not reviews.

It's got 3.7 stars at Amazon, heavy on the 3's; 3.59 at GoodReads, heavy on the 3's and 4's. My experience has been that ratings that low indicate a mediocre book. I own a couple of books in the Canal House series, but they have better (though not stellar) ratings.

People may not share my opinion on how high the ratings should be in order to consider buying a book. But, I almost never buy a book that is rated less than 4.0 at Amazon and/or 4.25 at GoodReads (GoodReads raters seem to be a little bit more picky than the raters at Amazon, for some reason).

Genuine thanks for alerting me to the need for me to clarify my statement.
