I often call it a backlight (ok, I don't write reviews, but still). I still think that "frontlight" implies a device you put on the reader that will be external and lights up the screen from the front.
And it still comes from the screen, be it from a layer behind the "display" layer or on top of that "display" layer. For the majority of non-technical people it's identical: light comes from the screen and you don't need an external source of light.
