As was mentioned, you can easily change the battery in a Kindle Keyboard -- not so on later models. And the browser is open, allowing you to do things you cannot do on newer Kindles, such as read and reply to email. I've easily replaced screens, motherboards, keyboards and faceplates on my several Kindles. The only thing that tempts me about newer models is the lighting! I'm still clipping a light on my Kindle cases to read in the dark. And they suck on the beach or at the park in the sun.
