Actually, it's the Icarus Illumina E654BK I'm looking at. I looked at the Inkbooks but decided against them. As it happens, I don't use Google Play these days - I certainly don't get ebooks from there. As long as I can load some reader apps like FBReader and the LibraryThing Browser app, I'm good.

It's interesting that you too have had Mac/Kobo trouble; my partner has an Aura and his library is also on the Mac but linked to his user account not mine. So far, he's not had any trouble (knocks on wood). However, his library is around half the size of mine and he doesn't use a SD card.
