Is Calibre commercially successful? How do you define "commercial success" of a piece of [free] software?

it DOES seem to have a "large following" ;-)

The original poster tomcam is not developer of Pandoc - he is developing a "command line-driven pipeline" for books and is using Pandoc as one of tools in a chain of tools for creating those books.
