I think it actually improves the cover. I see it as that "minimalist something" that Dr Drib was talking about - but a better option than an image that might seem out of place against the sunlight (unless very skilfully done).

I do think this plainer version needs something, and the tag-line seems a good fit to my eyes.

Maybe the tag line should be just a little bit lower? ... Not sure.
