You do have to install customer firmware, as the various enhancements here require a customer firmware to operate. Given the fact that the latest firmware is problematic you should download one of the earlier releases via a direct link to Amazon to your PC or Mac. Then put your Oasis in airplane mode, copy the firmware over via USB and install it. After installation immediately install the update blocker before you switch out of airplane mode. Of course if you are content with sideloading all your content you can simply leave airplane mode on until we can deal with the latest firmware.
