He does have a point. No matter what the reason was behind this decision, there will always be a next step. So, now you can only take those devices with you if you take them into the hold. The next step is all devices into the hold. And then no devices at all? And before you know it, you're not allowed to travel anymore unless you have permission from your government (and the circle is back to the middle ages!) Yes, this is a bit over the top, but not impossible.
Right now, fear rules. And "they" are winning. Simply because "they" are now taking away our rights. Not directly, naturally, but indirectly. Because their actions (or threats of action!) are limiting our freedom. No making critical items about certain country leaders or you'll be jailed (freedom of speech), no taking electronics on planes, giving up your phone including passwords so they can check your private conversations... (no more privacy). I really am afraid about the direction the so-called free world is now taking.
