The features you are asking for, external SD card, buttons (which includes redesigning the case to fit them and still be strong enough), all the other things you are wanting, will cost Kobo to add to the devices and add software to handle them. How much would you personally pay above the costs of the existing devices to have these things?

the external Micro SD card was on 5 kobo model's perhaps more please correct me if i'm wrong? the H2O is still available as you will know, i was more than happy with the price of all 5 of them.
regarding the cost of the button's i would much rather pay extra for them and a Micro SD card slot on a 6" device than pay for the KA1, as you can see it's all about choice, sadly Kobo e-reader's are very limited in that department.
