In a perfect world, yes this would be the goal. In a real world this is NEVER going to happen with a successful device/company. Everything's a tradeoff, and while you might want one set of features and I might want a completely different set, for a company to survive they have to design and build a device that's the best tradeoff of features and cost that allows them to optimize as much as possible the net return they make on the device. And ereaders are a TINY market, so companies can't afford to cater to the small niche of niche market that wants what you want.
Sorry, but expecting any company to aim for the "perfect" or even the best device (however you define that) and ignore the economics of it is never going to happen.
