Evil Librarian by Michelle Knudsen (ISFDB) is the 1st novel in her Evil Librarian series of tween/YA comedic fantasy/horror set in the obligatory Buffy-esque high school where strange things happen, this one introducing the eponymous antagonist as the new librarian whom a high school girl has a crush upon, only for her best friend to realize that he's a demon in disguise, as you do of your adolescence's authority figures (though not usually in the literal sense), and accordingly work to thwart his evil plans (which probably involve propagating the Dewey Decimal system), free for a limited time courtesy of publisher Walker Books.

This is apparently being made free to promote the release of the 2nd-in-series, Revenge of the Evil Librarian, which is out next week.

Currently free @ Amazon UK & iTunes UK (this also seemed to be free in EU, Oceania, South America, and Japan when I spot-checked assorted regional stores). Price-drop-check linkage for Kobo UK, where Walker freebies also sometimes show up.

Unlikely to cross the pond, as Candlewick has the rights in North America. It does seem to be free pretty much everywhere else, though.

Now, in addition to saving the school production of Sweeney Todd from technical disaster and trying not to make a fool of herself with her own hopeless crush, Cyn has to save her best friend from the clutches of the evil librarian, who also seems to be slowly sucking the life force out of the entire student body!
