There has been a Window 10 Update in the past 10 days that has caused problems (KB4013429) other than with ereaders - Microsoft has now issued another update in the hopes that it would fix the issues KB4015438. I don't know if these updates are affecting you - but you could check what updates are on your computer.

To do that type Updates in your Cortana search bar (bottom left of your homescreen), click on 'check for updates' - click the Check for Updates box to make sure you have all that are available.

To see what is on your system already click on Update History underneath the Check for Updates box. You will see a list of Updates and the date they were installed. You may be able to match a date with when your Kobo problems began. Sorry I can't be of more help.
