Long Pdfs on Older Kindles

How do you deal with long pdfs on older Kindles?

For example, if you have a reference book, and want to go to a later section?

I can switch into Librerator, but don't have many options in the standard pdf software. (I can't switch into Kual, and can't use touchscreen Kindles or tablets due to coordination issues.)

"Go to" lists "page" as an option, but it doesn't work.

"Search" sometimes works, but can fail due to ocr errors/ocr failure.

I usually end up chopping long pdfs into several short pdfs, but it's a mess.

I bought some softare to help convert pdfs into readable epubs. But it crashes every time with a "dyld: missing symbol: _writePNG" error.
