I'm really thrilled to see you say this. These books sound like just what I'd like to read. I know Jeffrey Carver brought his first three books in his Chaos Chronicles to eBook format and it's brought him new readers for the newest book in the series which was recently released. Jeffrey was giving away his books at his website and several folks asked how they could pay for them, so he set up a "tip jar" using PayPal. I don't know how lucrative that has been, but he's certainly gotten more than he would have without the tip jar. Recently, Jeffrey uploaded his books to our distribution server as well.
While there are many people who love getting something for free, you'll find that there are also many who feel that authors should be properly compensated for their writings. Make it easy for people to read the books and then pay if they enjoy them and you may be surprised to see what comes of it. Also, if you need help getting your book into the various e-Book formats, just ask. There are some very skilled people here who make beautiful books within the constraints of the individual formats.
