That was exactly my take on the matter. Not sure how one could infer otherwise.

Although continued updates will help to make the reading experience on the the current Max even better than it already is, updates to software can only achieve so much.

I had contemplated holding off on purchasing the Max having heard that the Max Carta would soon be coming out and that the Max 2 would be following later this year. However, as these kind of plans often get delayed, I decided to bite the bullet.

Personally, I won't be disappointed if the Max 2 blows the current Max out of the water. It will just make it all that much easier to justify the purchase, knowing that my wife would be more than happy to acquire my current Max.

Of course, if Sony or Netronix also come out with new models that leave their current devices well and truly behind, that is something I will have to keep an eye on.
