Poor Mom!

Yes, my sister used me. However, she couldn't have known it would be delivered this early. And she could have waited for it, however she would have to leave for work at 8am, so that wouldn't be much help.

Yes, but, here's the thing--there are millions of we adults, who don't have handy-dandy family, just lying about, waiting to be abused, or, y'know, mooched upon. We have to do things like rent PO Boxes, or impose on neighbors (if you have them--we don't), to have our stuff delivered, when we're not there. No built-in delivery receivers, no built-in babysitters, no errand-running mums, or any of that.

One of my New Year's resolutions was to cut back the using. My father discovered last week that the price tag fairies seemed to have died; I used to go downstairs to the store extra early when we had a lot of shipments coming in. I've decided to stop doing that because I was neither paid for that time nor thanked for it.

GOOD FOR YOU. It's one thing to not be paid--it's another altogether to be unappreciated. That's just wrong.
It's one of the downsides of the whole "family-run business" thing. Yes, they can be great, on the one hand, but, as you say, grinding and not very appreciative on the other. As Cins said, I'm proud of you, Rumple!
