Why? Do you know? Is it because they consider what they make better than what they can get in stores? Just because they enjoy doing it?

Our neighbor across the street when I was a child was into it in a big way. Used something like 50-gallon glass jars. But he was a chemist, and I think that part of his enjoyment was just in the chemistry involved. I should have asked him. But he definitely enjoyed drinking it, too.
