I think I'm done with trying new firmware. This firmware works for the most part on the original Aura, but I'm still unreasonably bothered by the fact that the two-finger light adjustment is not 100% reliable. It's better than previous firmwares (post 3.12.1), but I would say it's about 80% reliable. The other 20% of the time, it fails to respond, fails to respond quickly, or it highlights a word and opens the dictionary instead of adjusting the brightness. 3.12.1 is still the gold standard for this feature as far as I'm concerned because it works instantly and works 100% of the time. I have never had a problem adjusting the light in 3.12.1, and now that I've finally discovered the wonderful world of patching I've been able to customize the firmware to my liking, and now I have no inclination to try any other firmware.

So that's that.
