Surely you mean you downgraded Kindle for PC to version 1.17 and set it not to auto-upgrade??? BTW, it might buy you extra time but it's unlikely to be a permanent solution.

Downgrading calibre to version 1.71 (which doesn't exist), or any other earlier version for that matter, won't solve any KFX problems.
