This sounded like something that would be right up my street. But I hated it, and abandoned it at 28% of the way through.

It was told from the point of view of the hero - Lara McClintoch. So are lots of similar stories, so that's not a problem. But the constant references to things that she only found out later about events that she's currently involved in are really irritating. And her recounted actions are beyond belief. Definitely not for me.

March 14th: The Bands of Mourning by Brandon Sanderson. The sixth book set in his Mistborn universe, and third in the 'modern' subseries.
