Which e-reader for annotating books (PDF, MOBI, EPUB) and syncing to desktop?
I am looking for an e-reader that I will use to digest a lot of business and academic literature that will necessitate some note taking. My primary concern is for a platform that either natively, or through an added app / functionality, supports annotations for a variety of formats (PDF, EPUB, MOBI). Additional features like web browsing (wikipedia, dictionary, reference, etc) and access to the google play store would be convenient, assuming there are any useful play-store apps that would function well on an e-reader, but these are not dealbreakers. A good backlight is desired as well (kindle makes a point of distinguishing theirs as a side light, not "in your face". Does this make a noticeable difference?)
I know the kindle series is usually a favorite across the board, but it doesnt support epub or additional functionalities, and the native advertising is something I am not willing to accept. However, if it is legitimately the best platform for what I need, I will get a kindle (perhaps just a used one and pay to remove ads)
I am not concerned with access to the prime store, and I can convert files if necessary. Primarily, I want to be able to highlight, annotate, and export my notations and their accompanying text to my desktop use of evernote, mindjet, etc.
Thank you so much for your help!
